From GCS Sri Lanka Chapter
(1)At the Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championships in Sri Lanka (2024 & 2025), the GCS logo was officially displayed on event banners, promoting the GCS brand to the public at a governmental level through the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka.
This tournament is the largest taekwondo event in Sri Lanka, with approximately 2,000 athletes and over 5,000 participants including spectators, significantly contributing to the enhancement of GCS’s international visibility and public diplomacy image.
(2)The GCS Sri Lanka Chapter, in cooperation with the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Association, provided taekwondo equipment to 16 provincial and regional Taekwondo associations across the country.
The official handover ceremony was held on 11 January 2025 at the office of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Association, with the attendance of the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, executive members of the GCS Sri Lanka Chapter, and officials of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Association.
(3) GCS Sri Lanka Continues WT “Taekwondo Care Project” to Support Vulnerable Youth
The WT “Taekwondo Care Project” in Sri Lanka is currently underway, providing taekwondo training opportunities to approximately 100–120 students from broken or vulnerable family backgrounds in five regions: Gampaha, Anuradhapura, Moneragala, Badulla, and Galle.
Through this program, participants are not only given access to sports training but also encouraged to build confidence, discipline, and hope for a better future.
A notable success story from the project is P. Dihara Prasadhini (17), an orphan student from Anuradhapura, who has achieved outstanding results after receiving taekwondo training through the program. She won gold medals consecutively in both 2024 and 2025 at the Sri Lanka National School Taekwondo Championships and the National Youth Championships, demonstrating remarkable progress and excellence.
The GCS Sri Lanka Chapter remains committed to expanding this meaningful initiative and supporting more young people through the positive values of taekwondo.
