1st Sri Lanka National Virtual Poomsae Taekwondo Championship Wraps Up in Great Success
The first Sri Lanka National Virtual Poomsae Taekwondo Championship was held on August 8-10, 2020 to a great success.
The three-day event, which was jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation and the GCS International Sri Lanka Chapter, drew over 700 taekwondo students, including four taekwondo practitioners with intellectual disability and about 50 students under the WT Cares Program.
Lee Ki-su, vice president of the GCS Sri Lanka Chapter and chairman of the Technical Committee of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation, said, “The online taekwondo event has given a fresh momentum to the Sri Lanka taekwondo community, which has been locked down for the past four months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
To commemorate the Sri Lanka online taekwondo event, the organizers said GCS President Dr. Chungwon Choue, who also serves as president of World Taekwondo; Korean Amb. To Sri Lanka Jeong Woong-jin; and Mr. Maxwell de Silva, secretary general of the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee, have sent their respective congratulatory messages.
