World Taekwondo Charity Demonstration to Take Place on Ilsan Beach in Ulsan

A charity demonstration by World Taekwondo will be held in Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province in Korea on August 16, 2018.

Proceeds from the WT charity demonstration, to take place on Ilsan Beach in Ulsan, will be used to empower the “powerless” like orphans, reformatory inmates and victims of natural disasters in developing countries.

The event is promoted by the GCS Korea Yeongnam District and is sponsored by GCS International, GCS Korea and World Taekwondo.

The WT demonstration is expected to draw more than 1,000 people, including taekwondo masters and students in the Ulsan region.

Among attendees will be Yun Chang-soon, president of the GCS Korea Yeongnam District; Dr. Huh Jong, vice president of GCS International; Mrs. Han Seung-yeon, a member of GCS International board of trustees; and Cha Do-cheol, president of the Ulsan Taekwondo Association.

“I hope this charity demonstration will be an annual event, which will benefit disadvantaged and vulnerable people overseas,” said Dr. Chungwon Choue, president of World Taekwondo. “I am so happy to see that this charity event takes place in Korea, the birth place of taekwondo.”

To fulfill its social responsibility, World Taekwondo has since 2016 carried out its in-house Taekwondo Cares programs and has joined forces with the Swiss-based Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation for international charity projects.

GCS International, which marks its 40th anniversary next year, has strived to achieve three major focuses of goodwill, cooperation and service-contribution by promoting healthy societies, better living, preservation of nature, restoration of human dignity, and promotion of world peace.

GCS International signed a cooperation agreement with World Taekwondo and the THF to help facilitate taekwondo-based humanitarian projects around the world.

As recently as July 17, 2018, GCS International and World Taekwondo jointly promoted the “2018 Jeju World Peace Walkathon” on Jeju Island.
